serendipity: n:
the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable things not sought for
Life has a funny way of pointing you in the right direction. One day you're enjoying your favorite afternoon snack - rich & creamy frozen yogurt - and ten years later you're an owner of a growing frozen yogurt business. Okay, maybe this doesn't happen to every frozen yogurt fan, but it did happen to Brian Murray, President and CEO of Sweet Scoops Frozen Yogurt.
After learning that his favorite scoop shop was shutting its doors, Murray knew he had to find a way to preserve the best frozen yogurt he ever tasted. Serendipitously, Wayne Murray, Brian's dad was looking for a project to take on, and three days later was sitting down to talk business with none other than the grandfather of yogurt: Bob Colombosian, the founder of Colombo Yogurt. Colombosian spent months teaching Wayne his trade secrets and the Sweet Scoops shop continued on as a seasonal enterprise.
A few seasons later, Wayne invited his son to turn his love affair with the frozen yogurt into a career, and the family business was born. As luck would have it, Brian's stepmother, Louise was available to add her expertise in sales and marketing; and Brian's sister, Brigid joined the family to add her skills to oversee company operations. Before long Sweet Scoop pints were making their way across New England. Today, Sweet Scoops can be found in over 300 fine markets throughout New England, New York & New Jersey.
Not only are the Murray's the producers of Sweet Scoops, their family enjoys eating their frosty creations just as much as their fans! That's why they use only the finest, freshest ingredients and milk that is free of artificial growth hormones. Each pint of Sweet Scoops has half the fat and a third fewer calories of premium ice cream, and contains the health-promoting benefits of the live cultures found in yogurt, while providing the sweet satisfaction of a tasty dessert with flavors like Coffee Cookies & Cream, Mint Chip, Madagascar Vanilla and their soon to be world famous Ginger.
From an afternoon snack to a family business: now that's serendipity.
